In the last four years, Naples’ City Council has worked diligently to make significant improvements in our community. Like you, we want that trend to continue. The present council is not monolithic — it’s balanced. Each council member represents individual viewpoints and they work together with respect and civility for the common good of the community.

Baker Park

The construction of Baker Park continued during FY 2018-19 and the southern and eastern portions of the Park opened to the public in March 2019, while the rest opened in October.

The Naples City Dock continues to provide residents and visiting boaters with state-of-the-art facilities and a high level of customer service at a reasonable cost.

Hurricane Recovery

The city is still encountering permits for Hurricane Irma damage and to date there has been approximately $9.7 million paid out for flood insurance claims in the city limits.

The beach preserve extends along the whole coastline of the city of Naples and is home to many kinds of plants and species of animals, such as turtles, birds and other animals.

Improved Storm Water

Several projects for Stormwater improvements were initiated, such as the Stormwater Lakes Management Plan, the Naples Bay Restoration and Water Quality Improvements Project, etc.

Financial Accountability

For the 38th consecutive year, the City has earned the CAFR from the Government Finance Officers Association for last year’s audit, which recognizes the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.

Revitalized Downtown

Maintaining safety is prioritized through the implementation of action plans like addressing vehicles failing to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk in downtown Naples.

Eighth St Improvements

The 8th Street Corridor Improvement Project started on April 22, 2019, extending from 5th Avenue South to 7th Avenue North and includes 3rd Avenue South from 8th Street to 9th Street (US41).

Replanting of Trees

The City of Naples urban forest consists of 20,120 managed hardwood trees and palms. To date, the City has raised $120,486.00 towards The Blair Foundation Matching Gift Tree Challenge to help reforest the City.

New Fire Station Cat 5 Safe

On May 22, 2019 the City held a ribbon cutting for Fire Administration/Fire Station No. 1. It was constructed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane and includes a Emergency Operation Center.

The City of Naples Police Department acquired several Mobile Command Centers, which help officers communicate among each other on an emergency scene to act as quickly as possible.
